We'll be discussing apologies - sincere and otherwise, plus the ones we need but never get
In tonight’s weekly chat, I thought we might discuss apologies. There have been a few prominent ones in media lately. It got me thinking about how we can determine a sincere apology from its opposite, what the true purpose of an apology is, socially, culturally and personally, and how challenging it can be to accept full and complete responsibility for our actions, set aside all justification or self-pity, and be genuinely contrite.
There are some new paid subscribers among our number, so I thought it might be useful to say hello and invite everyone — new, not-so-new, vociferous sharers and LTLs (long-term-lurkers) alike to come along this evening between 19:30 and 20:30 (UK/Irish Time). If you’re new, do come and introduce yourself. We have a lovely group of people from around the world who drop in each Tuesday, and the discussion is always open-minded and genial. We moved the weekly chat over to the app after I ran a poll to gauge subscriber preferences, but it’s still happening every Tuesday.
You can join the paid subscriber chat this evening by clicking the link below, and if you don’t have the Substack app yet, you can download it through the link at the bottom of the page. It’s a handy way to read and listen to Substack content.
