West Scotland: ‘Gaun Yersel!’ “Go on. Yourself!’

Hearty well done, indeed, on your move and settling in over there. Far too hot, for me and no Snow, Sleet or Driving Rain.

In fact, I’m struggling to see what it’s got going for it? Who wants Beaches, and Surf pfft! 😭🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I read your article in the Irish Times.

It is hard for young people to buy a house because of unchecked mass migration. Irish people are being ethnically cleansed by their own government.

This is intentional.

As an Australian, I hope the quarantine process with Mabel wasn’t too upsetting. I know it can be rigorous.

Congratulations Laura. I discovered you through the recent interview with Substack. It's nice to hear you talk about your slow and steady regular writing on here has come to be what you were hoping it would/could be. It's really encouraging. All the best as you make the transition to your new home in Australia. From a new subscriber in Canada.

Your writing is a breath of fresh air in the midst of all that's out there. I'm not a cat person but Mabel looks like she might be able to convince me otherwise. I hope you find Canberra to your liking. I moved from Canada's cold to Arizona's heat and have loved it. Reading the comments after each of your posts is almost as enjoyable as the post. Your 'rise to fame' is well-deserved and I'm pleased to be one of your now many supporters.

Love this Laura. Just got your welcome message from subscribing and I must say, you have a way of making even the most trivial announcements and orientations exciting, witty, and fun to read. Looking forward to reading more and learning from you!

5,001! (Or -10, or -147, more likely). So, I hope it's okay to admit that I clicked on, then right off the Stack HQ piece about Peak Notions, because I thought I didn't have time just then to read about someone else's success. But there you were again on a note from Mike Sowden, and here is today's piece, and you're right: It simply cannot come to pass. Or maybe it could. And, maybe it doesn't matter if it does or doesn't as long as I quietly chip away.

My younger daughter moved to Australia (Sydney) 18 months ago. One of two touchpoints I had, at the time, was a family friend from Canberra.

There's a story there somewhere, either already taking place or about to emerge, and I think that's the point.

Thanks, Laura.

Wow - spectacular growth. I'm aiming for 100 at the moment, but only been here a few months. Mabel is extremely photogenic by the way!

Congrats! That's fantastic growth. I tagged in after seeing the profile Substack did and I've found myself settling in with a cup of coffee when it's time to read. Definitely going to subscribe but once-a-month payday is the end of the month, so it'll wait until then.

Keep doing what you do - it's awesome

Woohoo! I am not at all surprised by this as you have always been one of the most engaging writers I have ever read. Nevertheless, I am on Mabel's side in this instance and think you deserve every one of the baleful glares interspersed with indifferent ignoring she is sending your way. I am also not a fan of this 'moving to the other side of the world' nonsense.

(Well done, my friend. Completely deserved)
