I was a bit perplexed seeing it in the Lifestyle category, where you normally expect books about Hygge and How to be a vegan. But an award is an award! Congratulations - this is quite an achievement!
Probably for the best that it was not classified as a memoir - I suspect that those are rarely judged on the quality of writing, but rather on how big of a celebrity the author is, and how scandalous the revelations within the book are.
"Difficult to place," and outside the bounds of male respectability may not be unfavorable locations. This morning, in the states, some of us are digesting the news like an "unwholesome petrol station protein bar." But it will pass. Your writing offered a wink of distraction, thank you and congratulations on your award.
What a help to me on this of all days— to share in your thought process, which is, sadly, so often that of many women receiving praise (myself especially), as you take in one of the ways the world is reading you. As an American I read your words with hope and gratitude for the long game that is life on Earth. Congratulations!
Wonderful. A real tonic this morning and a reminder that if people and their achievements were always taken on their merits rather than in constant comparison with the incomparable, the world would be a nicer place to live.
The irony of the labelling of the award will not be lost on many who read it. Still, all things pass, and I’m delighted that you have been given some of the recognition that you deserve here (or anywhere).

What a lovely sentiment. Thanks Graham.

Thanks John.
